Paradise Ponies emerged as a result of the challenges I faced when searching for a suitable pony for my then, 7 year old daughter. I was looking for a pony that first and for most had a great temperament, with good conformation and had some athleticism. I couldn't believe what was being offered as a child's pony. It took me 9 months to find a suitable mount.

Good ponies like anything, good car seats, or good doctors, can be hard to find and are not cheap. But ultimately good ponies are worth their weight in gold. The piece of mind that a good pony gives the parents and the confidence they give the child is priceless. Ponies have gotten a bad rap. The response about ponies from some has been negative, "Ponies are mean and nasty". But think of who usually ride ponies, children who typically are novice riders and have no experience in training and have not yet developed emotional self control. I believe ponies are smart, and some of their behavior is self preservation. I cringe when I see a small child on a huge horse. I would no more put my child on a bicycle that were many sizes too big, as I would put them on a live animal that was way too large for them. To effectively ride a child needs to have their legs, and arms in the correct place, and be in proportion to the equine they are riding.

I truly believe that children should be riding ponies. Finding a good one is the challenge. I hope I can help with this difficult but worthwhile endeavor.
